4th Generation fix fuel line?

So i was trying to replace my fue filter and i kinda broke the bolts attaching it to the car and spun is around. So it twisted the metal fuel line on the bottom of the filter.

Can i just use somekind of tool and cut the twisted metal cable off and attach a new nut thing on the end to screw into my new fuel filter

or do I have to buy a whole new fuel line. And does that fuel line run directly to the gas tank or does it stop somewhere and connect to another line before continuing to the gas tank?

if you crimped the line when it spun, then just cut the fuel line under neath that and then clamp it using a highpressure hose line. then cut under the fuel filter mounting spot and clamp that as well

I had that fuel filter problem too with my '94 Camry LE. The fuel supply line at the bottom of the fuel filter was somewhat twisted and I was unable to take the bottom fitting off. I read the old service records given to me from the previous owner and the previous owner took it to a local dealership for a tune-up, there at that dealership some tech that day overtightened the bottom fitting of the replacement fuel filter that caused the fuel supply line to get twisted up. Arrggh.

But I resolved that problem (and sacrificing the better part of a sunny Sunday) by getting a 5/16" tube cutter from a local Home Depot, a 5/16" Goodyear fuel injector rubber hose, 5/16" brass fitting with a hose connector (for the new fuel filter) and a pair of 5/16" stainless steel fuel injector screw clamps. About $20 for these parts.

I made a clean cut at the fuel supply line with the tube cutter, about 3" from where the twisted fuel line meet the fuel filter. After that, I cut the new fuel injector rubber hose at the desired length that so it won't kink like a cheap garden hose. I then insert the rubber hose into the fuel supply line, which took some time, patience and a lot of lubricant to get the hose in about 2" into the fuel supply line and secure it in place with a stainless steel clamp. I attached the brass fitting/hose connector to the new fuel filter, inserted the hose connector to the other end of the rubber hose and secured it in place with another stainless steel hose clamp. I then strapped the fuel filter housing back to the chassis, attached the top fuel filter banjo bolt back on, cleaned up the area of any gasoline in the compartment, mounted the battery in the car, started the car and it ran perfectly. No gas leak whatsoever (even driving on roads filled with pot holes) because the fuel injector hose connections are really snug.

I checked out the junked Camrys at a wrecking yard and unfortunately it looked like the fuel supply line extend from the engine to the gas tank, not in sections that can be dismounted from.

hmm

For anyone else that is going to change their fuel filter........you need a 14mm line wrench for the bottom fitting and you need to put a backer wrench on the filter lug to prevent this from happening to you. The line wrench will ensure that you do not wreck the hex on the line going into the bottom of the filter. Also note that the top fitting on the filter is a banjo nut so you will need to make sure that the washers go back in above and below this fitting.

So I went to a junk yard bought part of the fuel line, since my end was twisted too close to the fuel filter. And then I used fuel injected car hose to connect the 2 different fuel lines together and used clamps to tighten it up.

Ya I read here about needing the 14mm flare wrench. Too bad no one said its best to have 2 of them.
