Post timing belt replacemet 93-4cyl

I need to replace the timing belt on my 93 toyota camry, 4 cylinder. The car has approximately 90k. From the information I have gathered in this forum, I should also replace:

timing belt
water pump
thermostat
tensioner
idler
cam seal
crank seal
oil pump seal

I just want to make sure this is correct and if there are any other parts I should also replace.

Thanks

you dont have to replace the tensioner and termostat, because the I replaced my timing belt and didn't replace the tensioner and everythik is OK. and the termostat you can change everytime , becauce you dodn't have to get the timing belt of to change the thermostat. I also didnt change my cam seal, because the were not leakig.

I would not replace the crankshaft or camshaft seals unless they are already leaking.

If you need a new camshaft seal, you will have to remove the valve cover, to hold the camshaft, to remove the camshaft sprocket, so I would get a new valve cover gasket and possibly spark plug tube seals and pcv-valve grommet, if your camshaft seal is leaking.

I would replace the timing belt tensioner spring, beacuse they lose tension over time.

and the oil pump has more than one seal, might want to check into that, I believe there is a oil pump gasket that goes behind the oil pump housing, I would not try to replace that either unless it is leaking,

the oil pump o-ring (aka spagetti seal) is the weak point I would definitly replace it.

if you take off the oil pump housing you will have to remove the oil pan and oil pickup tube, both of which have a gasket. and I would check the oil pump bypass valve too to make sure it is in proper working order while you are in there, I dont think there is a gasket there though.

and the water pump has a gasket too.

If you dont have a freind with another car, and cant afford a rental, and not within walking distance of a parts store, you might want to just get all of it before you start, just in case, although a bus ride might be cheaper to get the parts.

check the FAQ sticky at the top of the page there are two DIY threads in there for timing belt changes.

Thanks for the help guys!

I also have a 2000 GS300, and I read on the clublexus forums that changing the timing belt, thermostat, water pump, cam seals, cranks seals, and tensioner are just part of preventative maintenance for high mileage cars.

Exactly, do all of them if you can spare the little extra money. While your at it (if not already done), change the Valve Cover gasket, 4 spark plug tube grommets, and the PCV.

Also, since you'll be draining the coolant for the thermostate/water pump., change the hoses (again, only if not done in a long time).

i would also recommend you to replace the oil pump o-ring while you are there, as it is a only few dollar part, but if it leak, you will have to repeat the timing belt removal and installation again.
tensioner and idler are expensive items, i skipped them, but cam seal crank seal and oil pump seal, oil pump o-ring are cheap.
don't forget the ps belt and AC belt.

Why would you replace the seals if they are not leaking or weeping?

Preventative Maintenance.....makes things last longer and keeps you from having to do the same work twice.
