Japan 200 dollar camry

Hey everyone, its been a while since i've been here but im not a stranger to camry's.

Basically i scooped up this clean title 94 camry xle for 200 bucks from a shop because it has a bad engine? i tried cranking it and it turns slowly then starts but theres a clacking noise and shuts off.

I was told that it was either the connecting rods or the valves, either way i was suggested to get a new engine.

So here are some pictures and i hope that you can help me out a little.

ps, the only thing missing on the car was the spoiler before it was the super top of the line version, and i got it at pick and pull for 15 bucks, lol

That was a STEAL at $200. I have the same exact model, color and all. Nice deal. Good luck on getting it together.

Nice score. It's gonna take a lot of work to make it minty, but it'll be worth it.

If you're into some real fun stuff like working on engines, you'll have a great deal of fun and get a lot
of satisfaction out of rebuilding that engine. Odds are that it's very rebuildable.

What's unusual is that the V6 has problems. They're tough motors, very dependable. The previous
owner must have really neglected it or gone totally stupid for it to get to that state. Short of running
it without oil or firewalling the throttle while it's in neutral, I don't quite know how to kill a 3VZ-FE.

You'll be pleased to know that almost everything that car might need is still readily available from Toyota,
and for the most part the prices are quite reasonable. If you want to do a really top notch job of
reconditioning the car, this is a recommended way to go. Replace parts with new ones.

If you're thinking about changing the color, just keep this in mind: Totally stripping out everything you'd
need to remove in order to do a full paint job including inside all the door frames and door jambs really
doesn't take a lot of time or effort. I would highly recommend going to the trouble as it's just not that
much extra work. And ANYTHING you might want to mask off for painting almost certainly comes off
easily with just a couple of bolts holding it on, or just snap clips.

Oh yeah...if you want to put different rims on it, I'm interested in buying yours, so long as they're 15s.
I've already got a set but I've got something in mind...

That's a 1MZ-FE, not 3VZ-FE.

thanks everyone for your comments, and the only reason why it was 200 bucks was because the guy in teh shop wanted to get the money he put in parts, it has a new radiator and waterpump i believe.

as to the tweeters im not sure, this is actually the fisrt camry i see like this so im assuming this is an xle only option.

also, im trying to get a replacement deck because for some reason the deck spits out the cd's and refuses to play them, and so does the tape player, also i dont know if it would work for you because it has a special plug (that goes to the oem amp) and 2 antennas!

and cmj, im not really sure what happened to the car, with only 18xxx miles it should still be running, but imma try to get a mechanic to come see it and check it out.

I called a few places and the cheapest i can get a motor is 800 something, with about 6 months warranty and tested, but the guy that sold it to me in the shop said he might be able to get me another 1mz for 450 so im hoping that happens.

if i decide to replace the whole motor im going to keep this one and see if i can rebuild it or watnot, and cmjohnson read my mind, i was thinking of painting it bright red like the new taco's because ive only seen one SE like that and it looked like pure sex on wheels!

also, im probably going to take off the seats and take them to TJ and see if i can get them redone for a good price!

if you want more pics or info let me know and i'll try to get it!

yeah i think im going to see if i can get some lexus rims and make it look like a little lexus, the rims are 15's but im going to keep them for a bit since they have brand new pirelli's all around.

heres a pic of one and they all have the caps

also the i didnt think the cd player played mp3's, older ones dont do it, even lexus'

and also, has anyone heard of a special edition camry? i saw one around my house that is in 2 tone's and looks extremely clean, so i might imitate it and paint mine in 2 tones like the lexus' LS400.
