3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am looking for some information on where I might locate a replacement sunroof seal on my 93 Gen3. The sunroof is a Guardian floating system. I can find little info on this manufacturer. I can only assume that since this has no Toyota markings on it that it is probably after market. The unit has a four button control just above the rear view. OPEN, CLOSE, VENT and ASC buttons. I guess it is possible that Toyota used this model from the factory. It appears that on this unit I can replace the seal without removing the glass. If I cannot find a new seal I could make a repair to the existing one. The seal does not leak into the car thanks to clear drain tubes but the back side of the seal is beginning to tear. Any help?
seal it shut.. its a POS.. i have the samething and my started to leak.. then it wouldnt close all the way.. so i glues it shut.. dissconnect the button.. the only function it has is now is a skylight.. hahah

Thanks for the input. However, I am not interested in sealing this unit. If yours leaked into the cab then your drain tubes are likely plugged. You could A: shoot them with compressed air......a little risky. Or B: run a snake down the tubes to clear debris. Even with the rear portion of this seal beginning to tear there is no water entering the cab at all. I wont seal up this perfectly functioning sunroof on account of a failing seal. This is somewhat akin to lighting your cigarette with a cruise missile.
It was not installed by Toyota, so they will nbot have the parts. Either find a place that installs them aftermarket, make your own seal, or your SOL.
yup is nots.. thus ASC on the bottom button... and thus i sealed my shut.. aint gonna waste my time messing with something that wasnt OEM and the people did a shitty job.. and since waters has already leaked it, it might have rusted up some parts already so just to be on the safe side, i seal it shut...
