3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
for the summer i was planning on getting some new shocks strut and springs...but im not sure which ones i should get...i was thinking of k-sport or kyb, but i wanted TNs input before i do anything i might regret
btw i have 18's on (if that makes any difference), and coilovers are too expensive for me lol..and my car is a v6 xle cam...thnxs
Define "nice drop". I got a 1-1/4" drop all around. It's subtle, but looks really good to me. You'd probably have to be a TN Camry owner to notice though. The average person might look at it and think "nice looking Camry" but it probably wouldn't register with them that it's lowered.
The H&Rs were $250 from Tire Rack. The Tokicos were $320 from eBay. I spent another $460 replacing strut mounts, etc.(all OEM), and $120 for a 4 wheel alignment.
People have K-Sport coilovers, but I haven't heard too many stories of springs itself.
More popular springs would of course be Eibach or H&R, Tein's are nice as well, the S-Tech's would give you the most aggressive drops. Eibach's are probably one of the more preferred springs.
KYB struts are more of an OEM replacement then anything. Tokico struts are definitely worth getting if you want a good upgrade over stock suspension.

I have Eibachs right now, but I'm considering swapping them out for Tein S-Techs. I want a more severe drop and a stiffer ride without breaking the bank.
Get the Tein S-Tech springs that was made for the 99 Toyota Solara Milt tried it on his V6 gen 3 camry and it dropped it pretty good. Plus there are cheaper than H&R's or Eibachs. Get those not the ksport springs those springs have a definite rear end being much lower then the front and sags soon enough.
The teins judging from milts car looked even and nicely dropped. Check on ebay for the tein s-tech from 99 toyota solara.
Also get Tokico struts- eyeball96 has both kyb gr2 and tokicos on his camrys and finds the tokicos a better ride plus as we know tokicos handles better than kyb gr2.
