3rd Generation Camry 96' VS Commodore VS 95'

Hi all, i have owned my Gen III Vienta for over a year now.

i am generally not one to thrash my car, or ride it on the rough side, i mainly ride it smoothly and appreciate the luxurious comfy ride.

What my question is, is the comodore VS 95' really faster than myne 0-100, and what about beyond? is there much difference between the cars, and if so what kinds of difference?

Would my car be faster or slower? what would i have to do to my camry to have it equal it or beat it?

Both our cars are stock. His is V6, so is mine.

Interested in all Feedback people!!!

You have a 3L v6, He has a 3.8l V6.

It would depend on how much wear his engine has and how much wear your engine has. (The no. of Ks on the clock might give you an indication). If roughly about equal, I'm not sure which would be faster.

Its about power to weight. Even though the Commie had more power when it was first released, u have less weight.

Hope that helps a little

Not too sure what the Commodore VS runs in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 mph, but I can't imagine it's too far off from the Camry. Don't they have a little under 200 hp? Not sure what they weigh though.

For a 1996 Camry (3VZ-FE in Australia), you could expect a low 16 second quarter mile and a 0-60 mph in the mid 8 second range..

Yeah I thought I read a similar thread before. Anyways, it seems like it would be a close race, you should challenge him to find out.

I have a question too,

In a drag race like that, should i keep the tranny under 2 gears or 3 gears (2 or D) ?

Leave it in D (Drive) and keep overdrive on.

Huh? Overdrive is 4th gear. Doesn't affect anything else.
