Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Since last six months I removed following codes with my OBD-2 many times but they come back.I replaced with new gas cap.no difference.
Toyota camry 4 cylndr 2000, 150000km.Codes are
P0401
P0441
P0446
Please help me.
Canister, lines or valves-low pressure in canister, not purging OK.
P401 Exhaust gas recalculation flow insufficient detected.
The engine is not getting enough recycled gas from the EGR system. Causes could be stuck closed EGR valve, defective EGR VSV, MAF or MAP sensor, and EGR vacuum hose leaks. The actually EGR valve or the gas tube running to it may be plugged with carbon up, they can be removed and cleaned.
I paid to the mechanic. He took out EGR valve and cleaned egr valve and its tubing with spray and then pressure wash.He put it back. After one day i did not get the codes po441 and po446 again but i got new code po401 ??
Please let me know what is it.My gas cap is tight.Do i need to replace with new gas cap or should i replace the Exhaust drum on back of my Camry-2000,4cyl, 150000KM .
hey man i had that code and ima save your the ead ache.
check to see if your EGR valve isnt sticked by connecting a vaccuum to itif teh car stalls adn then deis that means its doing its job.
next go to teh modulator ( this is what was giving me my problem ) get a new one from the dealership or from a online source make sure the vaccuum line to the modulator are clean adn your code should be gone...that like a 20 min job...or leas good luck

^holy spelling problems batman..... damn... can't even understand that.
p0401 is insufficient EGR flow.
I think your problem is a bad vac hose going from the throttle body to the actuator and to the vsv's... that would cause the egr problems, and the vsv problem if there was no vacuum to the actuators...
sorry man is just that i spilled soda on the keyboard and the keys are sticking...but its most likey the modulator thats the convict in this problem...its not the hoses, trust me i lasted an entire year with that code

Please let me know where is EGR modulator or other suggested part exactly located on Camry2000 4cyl. front side of engine?.I am a new person .Can I do it ??
Do I need to replace VSV valve???
the modulator is located right next to the EGR valve, its the brown thign swiht the silver circle with red lining you cant miss it. i dont have a pic of it but the EGR valve is blue and the Modulator is brown/black..id say dont clean it get a new one, unless you feel you can lean it out yourself i tried but it didnt work. About the vsv dont change it until you check out the modulator since the vsv ius the next most expensive thing for the exhuast recirculation system and then it the EGR valve itself. Change your modulator and check if the codes comes back on...

Do I need to clean or replace VSV switch or valve.Do I need to clean or replace charcoil canister by new or used??
Where is charcoial canister located??Is it a big drum on back bottom of Camry2000???
It's the VSV on the canister on the rear axle subframe. You may be able to carefully pry open the metal fingers and clean/lube the VSV plunger.
The generation of canister seems to have some defects, either in design or manufacturing. The charcoal can disintegrate and blow powder all over the system plugging things up causing codes.
But I think in your case it's simply the VSV sticking with age. Another problem VSV is the one on the filter housing that vents into the intake.
