3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
ok so two of my sponsors came together and said they would like it if they can turn my camry into a all wheel drive and put the lexus gs430V8 engine then turbo it.
but i think if i let them do this it will lose the camry touch. i mean i love the fact that they tryin to put it in a class with audi, and BMW but idk if its rite.
1) im sorry but i have to call BS on this one.
2) ill retract my BS call once its done.
3) what sponsor would possibly ever want to do this?
4) if its not BS and there is someone crazy enough to do it then yes do it. but i promise it will still be just a camry...give them your supra to fiddle with.
If it doesn't cost you anything, you have two Gen 4 Camrys so if I were you and knew the guys quality wise, I'd drop the 220k gen4 at their door and let 'em rip.
What I think of it? It will lose some of the Camry touch yes, but it will also become a piece of art and a lot of fun if it's well done. I think I'd do it if I had two Gen4s...

well its a local lexus and toyota dealerships. and yea i said bullshit when they told me but im thinking about it and it sound cool. as for the car im not gonna let them do it to the camrys i already have i have put enough time and money in them so im thinking about buying a newer camry and letting them do it to that one.
expect the cost of labor to be 3 time the parts...at least, and they will prolly go through 2 cars to figure it out. every aspect of the car will have to be changed and no one has EVER even attempted this. again...if you are actually being serious then youd be a fool to do it to any camry but the gen3 coupe.
and if the sponsors are dealerships this its definatly BS on their part...no dealership would even entertain a MONUMENTAL project like this with the way the market is right now.
but thats where i need advice from you guys. i have 2 gen4's and its a nice size space for the engine area but i think ima need a bigger one. ive already had a supra engine put in one and it was a TIGHT squeeze. and my mom have a gen5&6 and idk if a V8 will fit in them.
ok dude...if you had a 2jz in one then post some pics of that. i have to see this to believe any of this, im sorry bit im having trouble believing any of this is true. youve ALREADY had a 2jz in one, would like to upgrade to a V8(which it wouldnt be), want to have AWD and custom turbo, and all of this is going to be funded by a couple of dealerships...which never sponsor anything. PLEASE prove me wrong.

trust me i want this done to prove to myself it can be done but ima go tomorrow and talk to the dealers
and i will post the pixs of the car with supra engine when i go to my dads house. sadly i totaled that one and now my dads friend is tryin to rebuild it but i thank its over for it. but i posted a pix of it on my myspace page under the car where i tor it up
you would have to tear up so much that it would be quicker and cheaper to put camry body panels on a GS...
a powerful 6cyl would be a better bet ... and AWD is just a waste of time, if youre going to tear up the underbody might as well go mid-engine RWD and push the firewall back
