Taurus Rocker Molding?????

Yesterday we had a '96 Taurus in the shop for trans issues and it got me thinking about the Taurus lip mod. I know this is the wrong year for the lip needed to fit Camry but while I had the car in the air I noticed that the rocker molding on this 96 is a two piece set-up where near the center of the molding it looks like the forward section overlaps the rear piece. Hmm If the rocker length on the Taurus is longer than the Camry this rocker molding may bolt up to the Camry. Even if you had to shorten the rear piece it could overlap just like factory. I think I will take some measurements today and see if this is possible.

the problem with that is, that rocker molding is not going to match any sort of body line on the camry ...

our doors look completely different, so it will just look like a strange lip kit that was purely an afterthought IMO

hmm

Hello again, Thanks for the input guys. Well I took detailed measurements and a few pics of the Taurus rockers. And surprisingly they are pretty close where it counts to what is needed for a decent fit to the Camry. Aesthetically I think that these rockers probably would appear to be a bit of a mismatch to the Gen 3 lines. I say this even though, quite honestly they appear a bit out of place even on the Taurus for which they were designed. I think that in order for these to appear correct on the Gen 3 they would need to be about an inch or so deeper (vertically) to get the best fit, otherwise I think these would have to sit a bit too high on the Toyota rockers. Oh well. This is the stuff I love to do and I am sure I will stumble across something sooner or later.
