2001 V6 P0770 Code

Read a few thread about Shift Solenoid E and will try the progressive flushing first to clear the code. Car seems to run fine, I haven't noticed any tranny problems while driving.

I get the CEL light followed a few drive cycles later by the TRAC Off light. After more drive cycles both lights go a way, then more drive cycles they repeat coming on, and so on.

Some posters said shift solenoid E is called solenoid SL by toyota ... is this right. How hard is it to access if the flush doesn't work? Anyone?

hmm

Hello, If I remember correctly isnt 770 a Torque Converter Clutch error? I would suspect the lock-up solenoid. I guess before I did anything I would find a pin-out of the trans connectors and test all the solenoids for resistance. This way you can test these components without taking anything apart. You should be able to find information about what sort of ohm reading is proper for each solenoid. However, since your Trac light came on as well, I would check that your VSS is functioning correctly, but since you didnt mention losing your speedo this may not be the case.

I had the same code, let me know how it goes. and yes it does have to do with torque converter lock up. It could be the converter itself, a bad solenoid, or plugged passage in the valve body GOOD LUCK!
