Adding switch to radio antenna

I'm thinking of adding a switch to control the radio antenna for when I want it or don't. If I add one to the wire that goes to the radio, can I accomplish this? or is there more to it?

Do you have a aftermarket radio? If so yet u can just ad a switch to the blue antenna wire.

I was looking at doing that after I put my aftermarket HU in, but decided to do the S2000 conversion instead. No regrets. I love the way it looks, and I haven't noticed any degradation in reception.

My MP3 player picks up better signal than the radio antenna itself, so if I want I could just break it off....

That would be cool.

So whenever u feel like it, u can swing the antenna all the way up like you are trying to catch alien's signal or something ^_^ IMOA, lol.

HAHAHA. Exactly!!

I use my IPOD a fair amount of the time so thought it would be nice to put the antenna up when I choose to, not everytime the car is running. At this pint not thinking of changing out the electric antenna as it works fine. Plus I have a CB antenna, and have one more I will have to add, so don't really want the whole back covered in them if I can help it.

I figure the blue wire from the HU, but just wanted to make sure. Never had one on the jeep at all. For some reason, they don't like mud in them!
