people that have headers on 5sfe or camrys in gen do they make your car sound raspy or ricey ? jw i was thinking about getting a set of headers but my car sounds good now and was wondering if it would make it sound like raspy or not?
It did for me. I have a CAI, a flex-back exhaust (no cat) and Bosal headers. The headers were the last thing I did and the sound after they were added made it so damn raspy. During cruising speeds it's not bad but from a dead stop or a launch it can get pretty loud.

When I head a header/cat/trd exhaust. It sounded like a shit raspy fart can and made me go deaf. My friends said they could hear me 3 blocks away. I added a resonator which got rid of the raspiness and it has a lower tone to it now.
I was looking for headers for the 5sfe also and tried buying them from andy's autosport but they said that they were discontinued. If you know where to find them let me know.
I just added headers to mine, just last week. It sounds really good (mine does anyway) I don't know about everyone elses. My friends say it sounds really loud when i step on the gas or when i'm coming around the block LOL. When i'm driving normally...you would think its just a normal camry on the street. ( Quiet like the oem ones...unless you punch the gas )
No it doesn't sound raspy..I would have to say i hear the intake suction more than anything...which by the way sounds really cool.
Check out my picture of my headers i uploaded it today. Anyways I got them off a website that sold the Celica 2.2 GT ones... I had the muffler shop cut and reweld them for me for 10$! Why? because the motor mount was in the way and the down pipe didn't match up lol.

Durrby's is the one i found and posted from Andy's Autosport (the Bosal) ... he may have already known about it, but i know i posted it somewhere on here so there should still be a link
it will definitely make it louder and more raspy, but that can be helped with a Resonator (i recommend Aeroturbine, a few ppl have taken that recommendation and have liked them)
it will also help if you keep your main cat, and have a good muffler (Durrby's muffler is a Magnaflow, so its good ...)

if ya do it id suggest using a resonator. simple way to fix the rasp.

so the 5sfe and 3sgte have the same exhaust ports?

I had no intentions on removing the cat but the shop that did my piping just went ahead and did it. They figured thats what i'd want and there's no emissions down here anyway.
