A quick question: pipe falling off?

Hi All,
I have a 97 camry and it runs well. Today when I checked the bottom of my car I noticed that near the rear wheels, the section of exhaust pipe looks different: it is not tightly attached to bottom of the car. Instead, there is significant space between the pipe and the car bottom.
I also noticed something like a "L" shaped metal pad on the end section of pipe with holes (for screws?) with no screws on.
So the question is, is this a big problem and how can I fix this? Thanks you.

I could be wrong but it sounds like you are talking about the a hanger that holds the exhaust in place. Any chance you could get some pics?

I think 4cyl Camry's are like that, my friend's old I4 was like that, the pipe has a weird bend from the factory and it hangs really low.

Thanks for the info. Yah I checked the pipe and it is not loose or easy to swing anyway. So I guess it is common among I4 camry as you mentioned. But..it hangs quite low and would hit something on the road much more easily.

Yeah my friend was quite conscious about the pipe hanging low during snow and going over large speed bumps, but I don't believe he ever hit anything with it. You can see the pipe making a line on the snow because it hangs so low.
