3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
After doing a lot of searching on this forum I have concluded that the 97-01 Lexus ES300 seats should fit no problem in a gen 4 Camry. Now the main reason I want ES300 seats is not for the leather but for the power seats with memory. My wife is 5'1" and I am 5'10" and it's a pain adjusting the seat after each time she drives it.
Now the question: Has anyone wired a ES300 seat into a 97-01 Camry that didn't have power seats? I have not pulled my seats yet to see if there is a power harness under there somewhere. Also hopefully the memory features are self contained into the ES300 seat and not tied into the cars computer system. Anyone done this before?

To make sure, check on a donor car, store one of the mem and then disconnect the main battery for 15 secs, then reconnect and see if the seats, if it doesn't remember the location then you are good to go since everything should be stored in the harness/relay
I could be wrong...

Question for anyone with a 97-01 ES300: Does the Memory feature only control the drivers seat or does it also control the side mirrors and/or tilt wheel?

After you finish your project sell me the motor in your Gen 4 seat. The one on mine burned out.

^ true. But the whole point of this swap is to have the memory stored so everytime you get in the car the seat, mirrors will reset it self to your posiition, instead of setting everytime you get back into the vehicle after someone has driven the car. Again he is 5'10 and she is 5'1, there is significant difference between the two. I would hate to count the clicks it takes to get the seat back to your liking (at least that is what I do, manually).

Thanks guys for the input. I picked up a full set of 97 ES300 seats with wiring harneses from a auto dismantler. The wiring looks very basic and on the 97 the memory function does not intergrate with the mirrors, that started in 00. Once they are all cleaned up I will document the install process and include pictures. I may even switch the cloth fabric from the current seats to the new power ones if it fits. We'll see how well the leather cleans up.
Skinny: Sorry no motor to sell as I have manual seats now.
