3rd Generation 3vz-fe questions

I'm looking at doing a tune-up and would like to do as much myself as I can. I've been searching for more info on specifics of the 3vz-fe engine but havent' been finding much. Where is the PCV valve actually located? [pics if possible] and I think the fuel filter is the little black metal cylinder in the front drivers' side corner, but want to confirm before I start screwing with something I shouldn't.
thanks.

?? You can't just switch it out? Think I have something for closing off the hose if needs be.

Need to start a tune up. Got the part I need for the oil leak at the front of the engine. Just a damn o-ring. $8 dealer only. They'll have it for me tomorrow.

Want to seafoam the engine so have to find where I can get it. I like the idea of it smoking. Need to piss off a few of the neighbours anyhow! hehe

The 3VZ-FE PCV valve is on the back valve cover, right (passenger) side end.

Ok...I need to know about this O-ring. Where is the oil leak on the front of your engine? I have one too and need to fix it and it might just be what is leaking on yours. Ive called the dealership and they said they didnt have any seals/o-rings for my oil pressure sender OR the oil filter pedestal/adapter.

PLEASE....give me a part number and tell me what is leaking on your engine.

Thanks! Im about to tune my 3VZ up soon too...so need to watch this thread.

Those prices are REDICULOUS! I REALLY hope those are CAD prices...because you can get a can of seafoam here for $5 at wal-mart.

Yeah, it's partially under the plenum, but easily accessible. No need to remove the plenum.

Thanks all!
The tune up is slowly happening. Picked up a new PCV, found it [thanks!] and replaced it and the rubber grommet. DAMN was my PCV ever crapped up! Definitely needed a new one. Hell, it's probably the original one from the look of it!

Picked up the Seafoam. Did the the brake booster/vacume lines, and the fuel tank. Had a nice respectable amount of smoke coming out as well. Didn't notice so much when I went up to Collingwood yesterday, but on my way to work tonight, DAMN! RPM's are running lower, [mine were running a wee bit high] and pick up/ acceleration is much better! Still to do is through the crankcase, but putting that off a wee bit more until I do my oil change, which brings the question, How long do you wait to do an oil change after putting it into the crankcase?
TB I previously cleaned which I noticed a difference too. Next, dealing with the oil leak and the changing the fuel filter. Want to do the gasket covers, but not sure I'm up to taking the plenum off myself. Definitely will get the gaskets across the border though. $30 cheaper than here.

As for the oil leak, it appears that the oil assembly is where it's leaking. Could also possibly be the oil sending unit, but from my experience, the o-rings when old don't seal very well. Went to a local dealer near my house and asked about it. It's basically a large o-ring. If you look at the oil assembly ['92 V6 3VE motor] just to the right of where the oil filter attaches, you'll see the round part of the assembly where it bolts to the block. Behind here is where the o-ring goes. If you can get your dealership to print out the blow-apart of the assembly, it'll show you the o-ring that is needed. Bottom of page is 'MA E776-A' and part is list as PN# 90301-68004
Cost is $8.

On the 'to do' list is once I get the crankcase seafoamed, get an oil change, and replace the leaking o-ring. Next will be the fuel filter and lastly deal with the distributor and the valve cover gaskets. Pricing out prices here and in buffalo to get the best deal I can.

Speaking of which, anyone know in buffalo who may carry VHT nightshades? Want to pick some up for my tail lights.

Glad to be able to help.
Been through this before, so I knew kinda what to look for. Different engine entirely, but similar in how it goes together and works. The o-rings just get brittle and they flatten with the pressure against them when the assembly is tighten. Put those two things together and they eventually leak. Easy fix.

AC got done today. System still runs great. Put in a stopleak which is done as a preventative procedure. Thinking the corroded low pressure valve was what caused the freon to leak out. Retrofit is done, and nice to have cold air with the way the temps have been last few days!

Pick up 0-ring today on the way home, and hopefully my light housings will be delivered WOOWHO!! Things are slowly coming together!

I picked up the o-ring on the way home yesterday. The part number ended up being 90301-68005, not 90301-68004. Evidently the 68005 superceides it or something? That's what they said anyway. If I get it off and it doesnt fit...im gonna be pissed! BTW, my cost was $9.29 + 9% tax.

Could very well be. The PT# I just took from the print out. For me it's $8 + 13%tx. Gotta pay the man! Still waiting for mine. Probably with shipping it seems. Got a wee bit to go until the oil is to be changed so no worries.
