i made a thread a while ago about my stereo going out...
im just wondering, will a radio out of another toyota fit? like out of a sienna or an avalon of a comparable year? or like a gen4 camry?

You can get a decent aftermarket unit for a very reasonable price that will be better than any factory unit. Are you just looking at other toyota units because of budget?
The stereo opening would be a DIN 1 or DIN 2 depending of if you used a single or double deck system. You new stereo should meet this requirement. The other issue is the face plate. A Gen 4 would fit.
As eddie926 states, unless you need to keep the car stock, after market stereos are much better in quality and reliability.
actually, i kinda just wanted to keep the toyota look on th einterior of the car..in my neighborhood, people see a stereo worth upwards of a hundred dollars, the windows on your car go bye bye...
i kinda just want my toy to blend in ya kno?

Yeah, most Toyota radios that are from the 1990s will fit- although some will require some wiring changes. Just keep in mind that newer Toyota radios won't fit/look right, because they have a larger faceplate.
Just keep in mind that the uplevel JBL radios sometimes require an external amplifier.
you mentioned your car didn't have the factory amp, therefore the plugs you have in the back are a black antenna cable, and two pin connectors, one of which is a 6 pin and the other is a 10 pin (or maybe a 12, don't remember). the two connectors are right next to each other on the stereo.
most Toyota stereos from the late 80s and onward have the same plugs in the back (unless they had an exterior amp). Now that wiring is figured out, figment is the next step:
your camry is a double din stereo system. that means you can accept stereos that are single din like your current one and keep the storage box underneath, or you can go double din but you will no longer have the storage as the stereo will take up the whole square.
in my old camry, i used to have a gen4.5 camry stereo which had a perfect fit (double din) and was plug and play. in my current coupe i am using a gen1 rav4 stereo which is a single din unit, but again a plug and play.
your best bet is to find stereos from toyotas no younger than a 2002 since that's when the faceplates became a bit curvier, and fitment will be problematic.
up until then (gen 4 camry/solara/sienna or 4Runner, tacoma, rav4, etc) will all fit as long as the stereo does not need an external amp. easiest call on that is the plugs on the back. those that need an external amp have a multiple pin outlet that is very easy to spot. Otherwise, stay away from the celica and MR2 stereos, since as far as i can recall, they aren't green when they light up, but Red.
Hope this helped.

OP just remove your current stereo, then u will for sure know which connector type u have (2 seperate plugs or only 1 plug). Infact you may have both, like me. Then just go to a junk yard and find a stereo with the same plugs as ur stereo.

i forgot that the scion stereos fit as well, and do not have the curvature of the new toyota stereos.
