3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I Just installed 2 12" kicker c12's in my 98 camry along with 4 kenwood speakers powered by an alpine amp and the subs with a sony 800w amp.
I also modded the center console so i can plug my ipod in and control it through the deck. The HU is a jvc hd radio. Tell me what you thing about it.
And yes I don't have any trunk space really left.
You could create more space for yourself by mounting the amps deeper into the trunk sides on panels that fit more snuggly into those areas. If this was my set-up I would turn the sub box around and fold down one of the rear seats. Or you could mount the amps onto the backs of the rear seats for easy access when you fold them down. Or you could get more creative and completely eliminate the rear speakers, build a top firing box that would fire through the rear deck via the stock speaker holes. This would allow you to better develop your front sound stage instead of letting those rears overpower accurate imaging.

I like the idea of more fitting boxes for the subs, but that would be expensive and time consuming. The amp to seats would give more room too. I wouldn't turn the subs around though, as it been tested and firing towards the back of the trunk is both louder and has more accuracy. As far as the imaging, just fading foward would be a bit easier, and he can't be a sq fanatic because he doesn't use comps. I would like to hear what you think of those subs, I see alot of people using those now.
Yeah it all depends on what you are after. When I was younger I just wanted more boom. Most of my student loans went into audio equipment. I wasn't satisfied unless I had trouble focusing my eyes. The rear view mirror would migrate downward and my nose hairs would make me sneeze whenever the bass hit. Now that I have put on some miles, tight accurate bass and imaging are much more important to me. Oh and "time consuming" and "expensive" are words that are synonymous with car audio once you have been bitten by the bug. No system is ever really finished. There is always room for improvement.
Yeah I like them, They pound but unfortunately I had to take them out today and put in some cheap visoniks due to financial issues. Oh well they dont sound too bad. If you guys really want I can give you pics of them and probably a video.

Reason: added more onto it
The setup looks good, but yea like said b4 i personally would move those amps closer to tha sides of the trunk to both make it more aesthetically pleasing as well as more effecient or trunk space use, if both dont fiton one side, seperate em. Make sure u can still get ur spare for watever reason u should need it, otherwise take it out. Here's wat i've done to my 89 celica if u need some ideas, and no i dont use my trunk for wat it should be used for

The Camry is a car that I can rip out someone's pride, stab it, beat it, and completely bash their egos, and it's so ridiculous that the person comes back with a hysterical laugh... ROFL They got trainlengthed by a Camry that in their mind, was a 18 sec car.
I actually redid the whole thing and it gave me soo much trunk space. I took both amps and put them up on my backseats, then I got a truck box and took away one of the kickers. Still pounds though, I'll put up new pics and a video soon.
does it still sound good? i'm really against those truck boxes, theres not enough air cirulating through em so sound waves have less area to bounce round n get a good bump.
