3rd Generation 1994 Camry V6 XLE A/C question ?

I have a 1994 Camry V6 XLE. If the A/C is on does the air conditioner work harder when I turn up the fan speed or is the A/C just on and the fan is doing the work ? Please comment on fuel consumption or conservation regarding use of A/C fan speeds.

Doesn't matter. If the AC is on, it's the same at any fan speed.

thank you for the prompt reply. I always wondered about that and now I finally know. My A/C still blows ice cubes. If I use the front defrost does that run off of the AC compresser ?

Nope, not on our cars. You have to manually turn the A/C on for any setting. The Gen 4 (97-01 Camry) I think automatically has the AC go on with "defrost" setting.

Hey guys, I have the same car but I don't know if the AC is blowing as cold as it supposed to, or I want it colder, what upgrades do I need for that?

Other thing, my AC rad has a huge dent in the front (I'm not sure it touched the main rad) due to a crash by the previous owner, so should I replace it for better cooling performance. It doesn't leak anyways.

If it's still working, just not blowing as cold as you would like, you might want to get a can with sealer in it and charge it up more....IF you are running r134a. You can look under the hood at the sticker and it will tell you what freon the car came with. If you havent converted, then it's what is still in the system.

Good luck if you have r12. That stuff aint cheap and you'll have to have it professionally fixed/charged due to licensing.
