3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Before anybody make a 2 cents comment like "according to the law of your state ... blah ... blah ..." That really bother me more than just not making comment at all.
So, regardless of the law (it's not any serious violation BTW). what percent of tint combination is best looking generally for a 4 doors sedan, and particularly for a camry gen 3 sedan ?
Do limo tint prevent itself from turning into purple ?
Thank you for all input...

20% looks the best. dark enough to look really good but just light enough to see ok out of at night. that being said i usually go for 30% still illegal in my state but allows me to see fine at night.
yea watever u do, DO NOT PUT TWO DIFFERENT PERCENTAGES ON THA SAME CAR, it looks like crap. If u want no prolems wit tha police, id stick 30-35% to go all around, I personally like 20% cuz like said above, it looks tasteful cuz some light still can go through it, but again u run more of a chance of gettin a ticket it for it. Limos look kinda tacky IMO

i got 35% all aorund...you can see everything during the day and night but its really hard to see inside the car at night unless your parked undersor near a light source if in that case you can see in side the car somewhat

The side windows should be the same % front and back, but the read windshield doesn't really hurt the look unless it's lighter % than the back windows. My other Camry was not tinted enough in the front and ugh, hated it.
When I get the current one tinted I'll go 35% for the sides and 20% in the rear windshield.

keep in mind the darker the interior the tint will appear darker i have 13% tint (that's what they told me when i got it done) all around and sometimes you can still see in cuz of the tan interior lightens things up, but yes like big bird said at night if it's not well lit it's hard to see out. i had my tint for four years now and looks like day one the guy that put it on said there was something in the tint that prevented fading some sort of reflector not sure, but it came with a lifetime warranty on fading, turning purple and bubbling so do some research if you go to a shop and ask lots of questions.

It's really a preference thing, and seems everyone has what they prefer.
Myself, I'm fairly light sensitive so don't like being blinded as I do a lot of night driving. As well, seeing is important as well, especially the side mirrors. With that said, I've always used 5% back doors and rear window, and 15% front doors. I also use a self dimming/compass rearview mirror. Never had any problems at all. If ever pulled over, always put your window down before they get to the car and turn your interior light on. Saves a lot of grief in the end.
I have 35% in the front, 20% in the rear. I wish it was a little darker, but I didn't want to risk a ticket, especially in SoCal. At the same time, I thought it would be better if the front and rear windows matched at least, so I figured I'd go a little lighter to avoid any tickets.
if you have HIDs or very bright lights, you should go for 35... i have 20% all around and HIDs and have to roll down my windows when i see the boys in blue.... gotta love the NYPD.... just go with the same percent or get gradient tints for the front 2 if your worried about the police....
It really depends on your interior. I think 20% all around looks best with a tan interior. Dark enough but not so dark that it looks tacky.
With a black/darker colored interior 35% (or 30% if available) would look best.
I had 35% with a tan interior at one point and it was waaaay too light for me. On some days it didn't even look like I had tints!
20%. dont make the mistake i did and do 35/20 just do 20
not as bad as mine.. 70/5 .. stupid cali law.. and where my parents' live, they thrive to pull you over for little stupid stuff like this too..
but yeah, it depend on how dark you like it.. but i would just go 20 all around.. i've seen 50 around but its a bit light for my taste.
