3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
It was a little cloudy today but I decided to detail the gen 3.5. It's my mom's but I still love driving it and keeping it looking nice. The 1MZ has got to be one of the best engines of all time! The car has 82K miles and I put Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires on it earlier this year. I didn't think the car could get any better, but those tires are amazing. I put them on my Camry too.
Now for the pictures.. They're a little noisy because the sun was setting so there wasn't much light, but you get the idea
And here's my Cam, detailed it yesterday..

Nice job man, I got the same color gen3, chips everywhere...though, how do you get the rims so darn clean?
The rims aren't as nice up close. I got them from a neighbor who dumped her gen 3. I thought I could clean it up but there's still spots of brake dust. I wet-sanded it using fine grit sandpaper which helped but I think I'll just leave it alone. You can't tell unless you're standing next to the car, and I think alloys look nice when the car has discs all around . The rims still look nice and shiny and clean from a few feet away, so I'm happy!

It's Ohio volcanic ash, better known as garage fire ash. Look at the bumper and grill of the Highlander, ugh, fire hot!!!
But back to yours. What do you prefer in the way of polish/wax? Did you do a multi-step or single?
It's ash? Interesting.. It doesn't even get that bad on the Big Island here in Hawaii! Oh, and I didn't want to mention your bumper, in case there was a story behind it that you'd rather not share
I don't do anything too special, usually. Wash with Turtle Wax ICE car wash, dry, and finish with Turtle Wax ICE synthetic liquid polish. I also like to spray the tires with some kind of tire shine product - brown tires kill the freshly detailed look. The ICE polish is expensive but it's easy to apply and remove and it keeps the water beading for a few months. I don't go more than two weeks between detailing my car though, and lately I've been doing a full detail on the weekend and washing it midweek if I have time. Some even guy walked up to my mom and offered to buy her gen 3.5, if she was interested in selling. Said he was looking for an older Camry in good condition and he was having a hard time
But yes, I know I'm lucky that Hawaii weather is very favorable toward washing cars year round. I take full advantage!
