Glass polish, possible ???

I have experience polishing scratching on plastic before (headlight-tailight), but the glass.

As one of my window appear to have some "very light" sratches, you can only notice it in the garage with light, that's why i can't show it with picture. It still bother me because i know it's there.

I wonder if it would be possible to polish, fix the scratch on glass window ? Have anybody has experience on doing such thing, if yes i would love to read a full write up, as it will benefit all members as well.

You first wet sand the glass with automotive grade wet or dry silicon carbide paper. Depending on how deep your scratch is, start with 600, 800 or 1000. Then move on progressively to 1200, 1500, 2000 and 2500.

Then make a slurry of cerium oxide and water to the consistency of milk or slightly heavier. Buff the area with this slurry on a felt or leather pad and keep wet while buffing. Use a spray bottle to keep wet.

If you haven't done it before, practice first on a piece of scrap glass.

Any sanding will alter the optics of the glass (lens effect) so don't do it on a windshield.
