3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Manual. Always wanting to do a 5speed conversion on mine, but I have yet to find the courage going through all the troubles or the financial aid to support it.
People tend to think the 5s-fe makes the camry the slowest car since the big bang, but in fact I think it's alright, it's the sluggish tranny that makes it even slower. A manual tranny wastes less fuel, power and torque.

i agree with venom. like not having to bother with it in traffic which there is alot of round here but that doesnt make up for everything else it would offer me in performance, pleasure and economy.
There are a lot of times, especially since I got my new suspension, that I wish I had a stick for the higher fun quotient. There are other times, when I'm sitting in traffic or just cruising leisurely and sipping a cup of coffee, that I'm glad I have an automatic.
Auto is nice in traffic but definitely plan on buying a manual for the next car I get, since I would rather have the fun factor now that I've had the ease of the auto.
