Tranny 1st-2nd shift high/rough

Thought I had this problem licked one time, to no avail. Only the 1st-2nd shift is higher than usual on the rpms(2,200rpm shift), and of course, a little more abrupt. The rest of the gears are smooth as glass.

-It only does this once the tranny is warmed up, after some mild driving(10 min).

-Fluid level is good, I changed it before hand. I seafoamed the thing once, for about 8 min. then changed the fluid again.

-Most of the vacuum lines on the engine are new(personal experience with other makes/models-source of many problems I guarantee you, change those vac lines folks!)


-Every once in a blue moon, after sitting about 30 min, on a forward downhill, the car doesnt want to move much, it's like the tranny is slipping, BUT, after 30 sec of movement, it's fine.

Adjusted the cable many times, it's good.


Is this just a solenoid or some switch acting up? One tranny guy said it could be a small pinhole in the valve body clogged, causing the hard shift.

Can anyone explain this puzzle to me?
