I've got a '92, and the manual also says it holds 18.5 gallons.

But I've never put 14 gallons into it, ever. And that was with the needle
right on the empy mark. I look at it as a 4.5 gallon reserve that, frankly,
I don't really trust. I don't know if it's actually there or not.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? It seems to me that when the gas
gauge says empty, you're empty, period.

its 14.5 with a 4 gal reserve ...

so unless your car is actually COMPLETELY empty, you will never put more than 14.5 in really

After a hard curve entry to freeway, going up or down hill, jumpy one bumper after another ... When the liquid fuel is not in balance, the needle does go up and down ... with the fuel light on and off ... it could be as much as a quarter of the tank difference in reading.

I've put 18.03 gallons in....and in actuallity, the car holds about 19 gallons. Probably 50% of the time I fill up I put 15-16.5 gallons in.
