95 camry Le. Is been happening for a while is just that im annoyed by now. When i hit a small hole in the street there is a weird sounds in the back. Like "pon pon", it sounds like there is no shocks back there. Took it to the toyota dealer and the guy drove it around the block and then checked it and said everything was fine. Any clue of what the problem might be???
The easiest fix you can do yourself would be to remove and regrease the rear sway bar bushings. I did that and replaced my rear endlinks (30 bucks for a set shipped from ebay) and all my rear noises went away.

My old 91 had factory struts until 300,000 KMs. Let's just say it made all sorts of fun noises until I finally spend the $140 to replace them. I can't imagine the previous owner had much fun with it

+1
It would be helpful to know more info, like the questions asked by fruitbat though.

I'm experiencing the same issue, I know it's my struts. VENOM told me to push down on the trunk and when you lete go count the times the back end bounces up and down. I did this, had a bounce of about 2-3 times, and it was confirmed that the struts are bad. Hope that helps.
same problems here..every time i run over a dip i hear the same noise i think its the strut also, but not sure but im planning on buying new strut and springs and see if that'll solve the problem...but im glad someone pointed this out because im too lazy to do it myself...lol

Umm my mileage is 125k. I dont remember the last time they were replaced because i did not do it, but i could tell you is been a long while. They were replaced and it kept going so i took it to the dealer and they said it was fine they did not know what was wrong so i just left it like that. It is recently a few ppl keep talking about it. So is the bushings i c, im going to take it to the mechanic when i get some time and just get em replaced.

It sounds like your spare tire is not securely tightened, Check to see if your mounting screw assembly is in place on the spare tire. Other thing could be any bulky tools lying around the spare area which can cause unwanted noises as you drive over the bumps or potholes.
Hope this helps resolve your issue with the noise.
I had the same thing, I got new shocks, struts and got the sway bar looked at, and I haven't had the problem since. I'm not exactly sure what they did to the sway bar, but the problem no longer exists 5,000 miles later.
I guarantee you it's the strut mounts, not the struts. If you drive and you dont get see sick..then you're struts are probably fine. My rear strut mounts on the I4 in my sig are bad and make clunk sounds when bumps are hit....and it's still running on stock struts and mounts with almost 339,000 miles on them.

Thats not it, today a tighten the spare and took out all my tools. No difference. My old man told me he already replaced the bushing, so it must be the strut mounts. I was searching on ebay, they have KYB on there but they only have one does one fit both sides???
My 95 had the same sound when I bought it about 3 years ago. Thought it was the struts so I replaced them, but the sound was still there. The problem was worn out rear sway-bar bushings. About $20 for the bushings and 30 minutes to replace them in the driveway. Sound was gone!
Even if this isn't the problem, with your mileage it wouldn't hurt to swap them out because they will wear out, it's a common Camry issue.
