kneel down and worship deep creep

Wow.

Wow.

I've been looking at the throttle body clean thread for some time now...and today I decided to do it. Went out and got the deep creep, came home, took off the intake hose. First glance into the throttle body I thought sheesh, looks pretty clean to me! Then I popped open the butterfly valve, and couldn't really see anything, just looked black. Still, I was kind of skeptical because of how clean it was on the outside.

I douse the valve and past it with Seafoam Deep Creep, wait a bit, then stick my old toothbrush in expecting to see not much on it. Well...it was completely black. Completely. So I was like woah, and went about spraying and wiping and scrubbing and wiping and spraying etc. I'm not completely satisfied yet, as it didn't seem to be getting any cleaner, but I figured that if what I'd done mattered at all, I'd see it when I drove. Sprayed a last bit of deep creep in and reattached the intake hose.

Started up the car which started kind of weird...I guess that's normal though with the amount of deep creep sitting in the throttle body. Strangely I didn't get any smoke from the tailpipe, but oh well. Went to drive and right away noticed it seemed more responsive.

So I took it down to a main road with 50mph speed limit, went from 0mph at a stop sign to flooring it and

DAMN!

it's responsive! Don't get me wrong, it's still a 5SFE, but

DAMN!

Before, when I would floor it or come close to flooring it, it'd slowly work it's way up to where I wanted it to be. And I was ok with that, I didn't know it could get better...it's my first car. Now it really does pull. It's awesome. And you could actually HEAR IT! I could NEVER hear it before, other than the sound I associate with trying to stretch an extremely stiff muscle. But now, purse your lips and suck in and that's what it sounds like! You can hear the throttle body opening and sucking in a whoosh of air and it pulls!

Everyone with an old Camry(I've got a 94), news flash. Your throttle body and IAC valve are dirty. So STOP WHAT YOUR DOING go get some SEAFOAM DEEP CREEP and CLEAN YOUR DANG THROTTLE BODY ALREADY!!

It's amazing. Don't see this as a performance thing though...I guess...at best...you're just getting back to what the car was like 14 years ago. I wish I could have driven it then, though, because it's very, very nice.

Ok, I'm done ranting. Go do it.

Agreed.

One thing though : BE CAREFUL WITH THE STRAW. Mine flew off into my intake last september. It's probably melted by now, but since 5sfe is pretty clicky and doesn't sound too good when you're going 5-10, the straw incident got me paranoid for weeks.

Haha yeah, I'd be paranoid too. But I read that like four people mentioned the straw...hahaha so I held on to it the entire time. You think they could make the hole a little deeper where you stick it in, though.

Umm...I think deep creep is more of a quick cleaner. I'm not really sure. But more than anything, deep creep is good because it has the spray nozzle, which you sort of need to soak the butterfly valve....

To be honest I'm not really sure if Deep Creep and the regular Motor Treatment are that much different, I just used Deep Creep because that's what everyone else recommended. And it worked well.

Cambot: I'd suggest using the Deep Creep, just be wary of the straw attachment.

94cylCamry: Your OP pretty much describes when I cleaned my TB about 2 months ago. It didn't look dirty but my toothbrush was black as night after I cleaned it. I still think I probably could've cleaned it more though, but there was a major difference before and after
