When I shorted out the circuit, due to the bad wiring of the power antenna someone previous to me owning the car did, it took out the map lights, stereo and a number of other things. It all runs on the same circuit.
If the only thing not working is the map lights, then I would first make sure they do work.
Wire the assembly directly up to something, say, the cigarette lighter. If it works, then it's wiring somewhere. If it doesn't, it may be the assembly that's causing the problem, or maybe a bad ground? If it does work that way it has to be a wiring issue somewhere if all fuses are fine. Then it's tracing the wiring back. The wire ends up connecting to the power that as well goes to the stereo etc. [at least with the moonroof it does, but I don't see why it would be different if one doesn't have it] it may be that a wire in where the stereo goes may have been accidently severed possibly causing it? Rule out the easy stuff first, and go from there.
