3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Today I went by Sear to get all four my tires to rotate, but the Rep. there told me. One of the tire has a thread depth of 2 and other 3 tires has thread depth of 3. THEY said they can't rotate my tires because I got one tire of deep thread 2.
In order to keep the WARRANTY by SEARS not void... I GOT 4 wheels alignment and balances when I purchase the 4 tires in 2005. Every 8k, I go back to get all 4 tires to balance to keep not void the WARRANTY. NOW, the REP. told me in order for (Sears) honor some $ back from each tire if I purchased with the new tires. THEY TOLD ME that I NEED to have (2) wheel alignment per year in order to keep the WARRANTY. THEN THEY TOLD ME, IN ORDER FOR THEM TO get back $ on each tire..All four tires have get down thread depth of 2 not 1 tire. I haven't heard or in the contract that need 2 wheel alignment per year in order to keep the WARRANTY..I think THEY ARE wanting me to get 4 new tires, so they can make extra money. 4 old tires on my car are still in good shape...but this people want more of your $$$$....
I don't know if anyone has bad situation with Sears? I got my car balances every 8k, then they said now that is not good enough. the wheel still go straight not lean one sight or other.
THEY WILL NOT ROTATE MY TIRES BECAUSE ONE OF MY TIRE GET DOWN thread depth of 2.
Any suggestion of good services or better than Sear? I AVOID THEM FUTURE SERVICES...I GO BACK READ THE CONTRACT AGAIN, THEN I GO TALK TO THE STORE MANAGER TO SEE IF HE CAN HONOR.. I HEARD PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH SEARS BEFORE, BUT NOW I AM EXPERIENCE FOR MYSELF.
INPUTS OR SUGGESTION WHAT TO DO FROM HERE...THANKS
I hate sears. Ill never get tires/service done with them again.
Did they try to check the tread depth in another location on the car? If you had to brake hard and locked it up that might cause the low spot in that tire. Take it to a different sears to see what they say.
I get my tires from TireRack and get them balanced and mounted at Wal-Mart. Got my alignments at Firestone because they have a LIFETIME alignment for about $150. You'll NEVER have to pay for another alignment on that car again. Got it on both my camrys.

i do all mine thru discount tire... never problems, they will usually do a repair for nothing even without road hazard...balancing everything, no goofy rules about alighnments to keep your warranties, just good service so far.
Sears sucks, I wanted to buy rims and tires from them. And they charged for every little thing, mounting, putting the stems, balancing, hub rings, lug nuts, and key. They wanted like $1,700. I went to Tire Discount they charged me rims, tire and balance which was $900.
Good costumer service mostly ended when Sears was purchased by KMart. My final straw was them not prorating a 1yr old Die Hard battery for the purchase of a new one. I lost the receipt and they treated my as if I had stolen the bad battery to get credit off a new one. Their computer database isn't linked store to store so, because I purchased the battery in another city, they have no electronic record of the sale. Very Convenient! for the oldest nationwide department store chain in America.
well i know the guys that work in the pits out back - they like the car
but other than that, idk - i mean it helps that everyone is known for being nice in the south (used to live near miami, moved to TN about 5 years ago) so the guys here are always willing to help ...
the problem is that its going to be different at every Sears Auto Center, but it helps if you know the people - i always try to do two things:
+ get to know the ppl working on my car to some level
+ watch ppl work on my car so i can catch any mistakes
luckily all the places i go will let me watch

Id go to another sears or call corporate and let them know how unsatisfied I am about the lawyering of tire warranties. Sears recently got bought out I believe not too long ago, so this might be why.
And when you call the top dogs(corporate), let them know if you dont get decent service for buying their product, that you will never shop at sears again, but do it politely.
I though I am the only person had problem with Sears. I'll go back talk to their manager to see what they can do before I go to THE next level. I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT...UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AND OWN BY DIFFERENT STORE CHAIN..THE SERVICES IS GETTING WORSE...AND I THINK PEOPLE WILL REALIZE LATER..THEY'RE NOT GETTING THE BEST SERVICES WHEN THEY ARE PAYING $$$...
HAS ANYONE BUY TIRES ONLINE AND HAVE SHIPPING DIRECT TO THEM.... THEN USE OUTSIDE SOURCE TO GET ALIGNMENT AND INSTALL 4 TIRES AT THE SAME TIME.
WHICH ONE IS THE BIG SAVERS????? GO STORE GET TIRES DIRECTLY OR PURCHASE ONLINE AND GET OUTSIDE SOURCE TO DO THE JOB FOR YOU.

Lay off the caps bro!
I purchase my tires at www.tirerack.com and then pick them up locally. I have a tirerack warehouse here in Shreveport. So that saves on shipping. Then walmart to mount/balance and firestone for alignment. STILL saved money over getting it all done at one place. And the alignment is for LIFE. With the streets here...ya need it!
