4th Generation Fog Light Installation Questions with Pics

I picked up a set of yellow fogs from Pep Boys yesterday. The kit included the lights, the wires, and a switch which I would like to mount next to the security alarm LED by the steering wheel. Where exactly is the opening in the firewall, and how would I go about mounting the switch inside? I found several threads that explained the installation, but I couldn't pinpoint where that opening was. Also, where are some good spots to ground the fog wires? I could ground the wires near the bottom of the bumper on some metal, but the wires are only 3-4 inches long and I thought they could easily get wet in rain. Should I extend these wires and ground them somewhere inside the engine bay? Also, I heard that fogs get extremely hot. I mounted these with the clamps they came with around the bottom section of the bumper (props to bigbird for showing me where to mount them). Will I have to worry about the bumper warping/melting? Hopefully you can see how I did it in the pics.

Here are some pics:

This is where I would want the switch:

Here are some shots of the engine bay, but I'm not sure where the opening is:

Sweet upgrade, I did mine about 2 months ago...

Some fogs I bought at Autozone, pretty decent. Pilot Dual Series H.I.D. Foglights

PS: The passenger blinker works just not lights up, pretty JDM LOL!

I ran my wires to the side fender underneath by the hood latch, (between the door and weather stripping) and I used one of the engines ground wire near the stock air box was. Its a black wire with a screw, unscrew it and put the ground there, it works fine and no need for extra work. My bumper isn't warped yet so you should be good.

the hole is below and to the right of the brake booster. i think it has a gromet on htere but thats where it is. get a switch that clips in place then when ya cut the hole it will clip itself in place and stay.

the lights look good too.

Thanks for the responses. I'll give it another shot today and see if I can hook these up.

EDIT: Do you guys have pictures of where this opening is? I tried running the wire through the hole to the right of the brake booster (the one with a bunch of wires going somewhere but I couldn't find where the wire is supposed to come out. I'll try to take some pics to show which one I was using.

This is where I ran the wire through. Is this the wrong hole? If so, which one is it supposed to be and where should I be looking for the wire coming into the cabin?

Where should this wire be coming out from?

If you get yours to work I may attempt to do mine this weekend.

Good Luck.

I couldn't find the firewall opening so I took it to a shop and had them wire the lights up. They said that there was absolutely no way to route the wires through the firewall, and ended up drilling a hole through "the clutch plate." Anyways, they work now and I have them hooked up to a switch and to the parking lights.

The steering column is where I run all my wires through. You just gotta open up the rubber piece, and slip the wires through. I've got 8ga. wire and my foglight wires through it.

That hole near the strut is the one I used to run the power wire for my amp.

The other side of that hole is in the wheel well. You need to remove the front driver side wheel and then remove part of that plastic liner in the wheel well.

Once you've taken out the liner, you can see the wire bundle going through that hole and then through a rubber grommet on the firewall. You'll need to poke a hole in the rubber grommet. It goes into the car somewhere above the dead pedal and the brake pedal IIRC. It's been a while since I've been down there.

That place you want to put the switch, I dunno if you've figured it out yet, but if you take out the coin tray under that panel, you can stick you hand up and pop the entire panel out with almost no effort.

Edit...I just saw you had a shop do it...Wish I would have seen this thread earlier. Sorry I couldn't help you out.

TouringCamry, thanks for the info. I just saw your post today since the thread was recently bumped. Anyways, the lights are up and running and the switch is done too. I kinda thought there was an alternative to drilling, but at least everything turned out okay.
