3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
GR2s are TOO SOFT. - mines are pretty much blown 3 weeks into the s-techs.. but they were fine with the h-techs. Also, softer struts make the ride feel really sloppy at times because you want to push the car harder and it just doesn't give you that stability.. plenty of pitch and roll.
lowering springs- go with the s-techs/tokico for a good-noticable drop with a stiffer ride or h-techs/kyb for a softer more subtle ride.. but prepare for a let down if you ask anymore from it than what your stock suspension gives.
I would of had it done past friday but when putting it all together the upper spring seat I received from toyotaoemparts.com wasn't the right piece and I contacted them and told them the part# on it which was 48471-41010 and they said that was the right piece that I ordered which is fucking bullshit. They wouldn't take it back and since i'm busy the week i'm fucking tired of wasting any more money just going to reuse the spring seat from the old suspension. My cousin is around to help hopefully with no other problems it would be on this week before the weekend.
*Oh yea Venom the kyb bump stop don't fit with the oem upper insulator on the rear. The big bump stop gets in the way, so I guess the kyb were meant for their dust boot design. The fronts were ok since the front insulator is bigger.*
Teins were already proven from milt on his v6 3rd gen camry and all im doing is seeing how it looks on a i4 3rd gen camry that's all. It should fit on the gen 4 camry but the teins is from a solara I thought they made s-techs for the gen 4 camry anyways so what was the point of that comment Venom?? Wait is your a car a gen 3 or 4 N35quik??? If it's a V6 then get the solara tein s-techs it looked hot on milts old camry. If i4 then the drop is not known yet.

did anyone ever prove that the Tein springs work on the Gen 3? ... if not, then u guys probably should stop bringing them up
"
ya know i was actually wondering the same thing. i think i remember a member using them on a gen3 but i cant remember if they were the H or S techs....or who the member was. the rears i know would work fine but the fronts...hmmm.
in either case the tokicos are the better choice of shocks. i have kybs with H techs and while its a fairly stiff ride it does give les control because the bound and rebound is close to stock. for springs i say H&R all the way.
We put "King" and "Jamex" Springs here. Kings springs do make the ride lower and it does not affect the comfort that much. I'm planning install them on mine after 6 to 8 weeks, after the manual transmission conversion.
the point was that he shouldnt buy the springs until youre done with the install - cuz we still dont know how its gonna look yet, and id hate for it to look goofy
if hes gonna be Tein, he should wait until youre done ... otherwise i still think Intrax
