brakes squeel LOUD in reverse (ericsol caliper mod)

ok its been about 5 months since i installed the eric sol caiper mod with new pads. the calipers were never modded cuz i was lead to believe that was only necissary on the gen3 camry, but apparently not for reasons unknown to me. the rotors have been gouged a little by what appers to be the pad retainers but it stopped a long time ago. now when i drive in reverse...especially when turning, they squeel real loud. its constant while im moving but driving foward i have no problems.

ive looked and i cant see anywhere its rubbing or any recent gouge marks on the front or back of the rotor. anyone with this mod have any similar problems? i origionally posted this on SG but figured if my V6 brakes are more like the gen3 ones maby some gen3 eric sol'ed members might have had the same problem and i may get more help here. thanks for any help.

Hmmm weird. I have this issue when in reverse, but honestly I am only in reverse when my engine is cold (and I park my car outside in the Seattle area, so I figured the brakes were just wet).

Anyone else find out what this problem is?

you sure it's the brakes man? Especially if it sounds different while turning, i can't think of a reason why the brake sound would change drastically while turning.

You check the pad shims to make sure they didn't move? I remember on my Scepter the shims were actually occasionally touching the rotor surface and had to be ground down.

The pads may be shifting in the caliper when forced backwards resulting in something rubbing.

didnt think about them moving. we did grid them down but ill have to check if they are shifting. what might cause them to shift? the part of the shims we ground dont really hold the pads in place.

I still have not put my kit on yet. Did you have to modify the shims also or the just the caliper? And also are you using oem pads? I will probably be in the same situation when I put them on. Maybe try to check for play with the pads and check for the waves on your rotor and what they're hitting. I would check to see for fresh metal scrapings if possible. gl

no fresh metal, no signs of recent gouging. i only modified the shims cuz they were hitting the rotor when we mounted them but the caliper i did not modify cuz i was told they didnt need to be on the gen4.

caliper didn't need modification on my Gen 3.5 either. Just the shims behind the pads. They move and then touch the rotor surface.

Yeah I get that problem when I turn almost all the way left or right. The people that installed it test drove my car and said it was rubbing caused by the rim touching the caliper. Buuuut I don't see the wear anywhere
