3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So after putting 7 hours of detailing last night, i've decided that the silver emblems on my green camry have got to go. Any one have advice on how to remove them? i hear fishing line works well. I'm replacing the front one, on the grill, and the rear "TOYOTA" one on the left, and the "LE" one on the right. I'll probably shave the "CAMRY" off the trunk, if I can't find gold emblems for it. So, how do I go about removing all of these and replacing them with gold OEM logos? Thanks guys!

Can't help you out, but I just wanted to say that I like the dark green Camrys (has to be shiny) and gold emblems. You should post up some pictures of your Camry now - especially since you spent so much time detailing it - and also after you get everything done.

If you had a V6 XLE id say we could trade....but the V6 in my sig is the one that has gold. The I4 has the silver. Also..dont forget the antenna nut if you want to go COMPLETELY gold stock look. I havent really looked closely at the condition of mine, but yours are probably just double sided tape. Mine have pegs that go into holes.

I used an old hotel room key. Any plastic card like that works well. Then use gasoline/goof off/brake cleaner to get the stickies off. As far the toyota emblems, those have three prongs on the back that you have to squeeze to pull off. But if you don't care if they break, you can just rip them out. You could always just paint your old ones gold.
Lookin' good! Post some of those pictures to the sticky at the top of this gen 3/4 forum . I just put some pics in there last night. What kind of tires do you have? That tread pattern looks very familiar - Michelin X-Radials?
I think gold emblems look nice on the gen 3 Camry - good luck!

I recently took the rear emblems off of my gen3 and painted them black.
Unwaxed dental floss or fishing line works well. It helps to park the car out in the sun for a couple hours for the adhesive to heat up. It will become more pliable.
The remaining adhesive can be soaked in wd40 and can be rubbed off with your hand and friction.
For reinstallation, I used some 3M emblem adhesive. It comes in a tube and runs about $4.50 at your local auto parts store.

looks good, what part of the burg you from, looks like the apartments off wards ferry. I'd either remove and paint, or update with newer camry emblems on the rear, check CD auto recylers in rustburg if I remember right, I got a mirror for my 97 for $5 and sideskirts from an infinity G20 for $10
Wow...JUST realized you live in Lynchburg, VA. My dad lives there. Works for Southern Air. Drives a Harley when not in his work van.
man, if i had a dollar for every time i saw a harley in lynchburg, i'd turbo my camry.

The sombreros (both the trunk lid and the grill) are pegged . The C A M R Y letters are pegged. The rest may or may not be. The rest of my badges were tape only, but other members have indicated that some or all of their other badges were pegged also.
You take them off the same way. Fishing line, dental floss, whatever your tool of choice is. You just have to work it in from multiple sides since the pegs will prevent you from starting at one side and cutting all the way through.
