Don't really like a lot of chrome myself. From what I've seen of mine, it doesn't seem like you can take it off, but you can buy special tape that goes over it. Check your local auto parts store. It's usually in with all the trim stuff.

Which bumper are you trying to take off, the front or rear? They're both pretty simple on a gen 4.

I need to know how to take the bottom rear ones out, they're all bent up.
I made a DIY on this before (front passenger and drivers sides), search it!

Open the hood and look at the top of the bumper...right in front of the radiator. There's 3-4 plastic screws. Undo the screws as far as you can, then pop them out.

Underneath the bumper, in the middle look straight up. Then look a little to the left and right. Those plastic screws show up again. Undo those.

Undo all the air dams and plastic guards from the bumper under the car, don't forget the plastic around the wheels, too!

This one is the hard part. Reach under the bumper until your hand is near the side of the headlight/cornering light. Try to find a bolt that is holding it on. There's one on each side, and it's a 10mm bolt. Use a wrench, because there's no way you can fit a socket up there. If you're lucky, you can save yourself the trouble by using a ratcheting wrench.

Once you get those off, there are two clips holding the bumper. They're right below the headlights if you look from the front. Try pulling the bumper out very gently to see these. Then take a screwdriver to release them.

Good luck, hope that helped.
