1992 Camry i4 5spd, timing belt change, Car will not start

Hey, I dropped my car off to the mechanic to get my timing belt/waterpump changed. So he has changed both, and went to test the car out, it started fine the first three times, but now it will not. Apparently it tries but doesnt. I'm going to go get a better description from him tonight, but hes been at it for the last hour and cant get it working. Any ideas what possibly can be wrong? I know this is very vague but I'm going to get more info tonight and will post it up.

ok when your auto guy did the 3 starts in row did he drive it after the 3ed start and then stop it and try to start it again? is he 100% sure he has the timing marks lined up on the crank and the cam gear? is he sure that the belt tenshinor is tight on the belt? also how much are you paying this guy an hr?

^ what he said...just because it turns on and seems fine, it can still slip a tooth, OR the timing is off on the crank sensor, and the car will start a couple of times, then the ecu doesn't like it and it won't turn on

tell him to check the timing marks again

hmm ok i'm going to call him and tell him to double check that, i didnt ask, but i figured that should have been the first thing he should have checked. Damn I have work at 1pm tomorrow and hour and a half away, I sure he figures it out and fixes it by then! Also is there anything else that comes to mind?

EDIT - I dont think he drove it around after starting it 3 times, but I could be wrong, I did not ask

part of the question though, unfortunately, is this...why are you asking us what can be wrong with the car when you PAID a mechanic to do the work for you?

it's understandable if you did the work yourself and then something went wrong, so you came asking.

but if he's your mechanic and you can't trust him to do proper work on your car...maybe it's time for a new mechanic
