Alarm not sounding.

Hey guys

I have a 93 camry. My problem is that the alarm does not sound. It looks like it goes off (ie lights flash and it immobilizes) but there is just no sound or 'alarm'. Does anyone know what this could be? It also doesn't 'beep' when you turn the alarm on or off.

I'm guessing this means it might be disconnected from the horn??

Also does anyone no where the factory alarm would be located?

thanks in advance!

jase

The horn is probably located in the engine bay, near the wheel wells. Follow the wire from it to see if it's plugged in. If it is plugged in, has the alarm speaker been facing up towards the hood of the car? If so, water got in it and it no longer will work.

Did you buy the car used? I have a simple keyless entry + engine immobilizer system on the gen 3.5 and it behaves exactly the way you mentioned. It has no siren and it's not hooked up to the horn either. Your alarm may not be malfunctioning, rather..it's more of a keyless entry system with an added immobilizer.

Same here. It's got a 'Valet' switch and a standard blinking LED light too. There just isn't a siren or a shock sensor
