3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have a petit problem... In Canada it is a requirement to have DRL (Daytime running Lights) on 199x models and above. What I don't understand is with my car, my DRL come on but so does all my other lights. Corners, Side marker, brake lights (dim) and license plate light. All this happens once I start my car and the handbrake is released (if handbrake is pulled nothing happens which is normal)
My headlight switch is set to off completely. Anybody can tell me how to disable this??? Or where I can look to find the problem. Also I don't mind if someone can tell me how to disable the DRL at the sametime.

because I know that with mine, after I reset my battery and don't set my remote start function properly, the exact same thing happens to me, and my interior dash lights also stay on even when my lights aren't turned on

Normally the DRL's come on and that is it. But I have never seen another Camry like mine that has all the exterior lights come on after starting the car!

Thanks Venom. I am going to check hopefully the connector is in the same location as the GEN4.
Island: Because of the age of our cars, we can get away with it. But my concern is not the DRL, but all the exterior lights. I am probably gonna take out the whole unit and see if I can modify what exterior lights come on.

A lot I see don't have them on either, but I think it's just because the bulbs are burnt out. I'm just a little anal about my lighting. Just recently replaced my back corners with long life bulbs as mine where blown.
