3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
- Bumper kit, probably the Cyber kit since RMM doesn't pick up my call...
- Lowering springs and struts combo
- Save up some more and grab new set of wheels
Btw, how reliable are lowering springs and struts, I don't want to replace them and possibly the whole wheel arms assembly any time soon.

I ran over a parking curb today...well, long story short, I floored the Camry cuz it was a dirt parking lot (trying to pick up some dirt like anyone else) and I didn't notice there was a parking curb in front of me...(curse...talking on cellphone while driving). So the Camry rolled over it, man I could feel the car was bottomed out on the curb, might have touched the cat or the resonator or the jacking frame. I back'ed out fine, got out of the car to check for visible damage. Nothing bad visible, but I COULD HAVE GOTTEN STUCK IF IT WAS LOWERED. I was like Damn...
I like to go off road sometimes, not like 4x4 style but the place I live isn't exactly all city street leveled. I don't think getting lowering springs is an ideal buy anymore...
nah, u wouldnt get stuck ... ive almost been high-centered a few times with the previous ride height worst comes to worst, you just get out and push/pull
lowering springs wont get you low enough to get completely stuck, especially if you go with < 2" drop

1. you completely asked for that to happen. try NOT to do stupid stuff like that and theres no reason not to buy lowering springs.
2. if your taking your camry off roading...then get rid of your camry and buy a TRUCK or forget about ever modding it...it is NOT a truck and treating it liek it is will ware it out quickly...BELIEVE ME...i know from experance.
Experience huh, gotcha . Hey man, we all live and learn, I might as well listen to you ... or not.
Yeah well getting out of the car and push/pull it off a curb or anything isn't as bad as the damage it could do. I'm a little worried something was damaged and wasn't visible. Ahh well, just gotta wait and see.
Btw, I gotta fix this droning on the magnaflow first before modding anything else. Just took it out for a couple hours drive man crusing at 65mph rode my head crazy!
theres nothing too terribly fragile under the gen 3 ... toyota did a good job with that
you can scrape up your frame rails a bit, but the most that will do is clean the dirt off of them ... you can probably scratch any plastic coverings on the underbody, but you can do that anyways and most cars as old as ours already have ... you could put a hole in your exhaust depending on how the piping is routed
im not sure how your new exhaust is, but with the stock exhaust it hangs pretty low ... what ive found is that if you hit the exhaust, it will actually flex as much as 4" upwards into a sort of indent/pathway in the under side .... i wish they had just put the piping in that indentation in the first place!
