93 3VZ-FE Over heating and NO Power Steering HELP!

Hello Everyone, I'm new to the site and really need assistance!

MY 93 Camry started over heating and lost power steering at the same time. I found the hydraulic fan motor was locked up and I replaced it. That solved my overheating issue but I still do not have power steering.

The power steering pump and the rack and pinion were both replaced in December 07 so I'm hoping they aren't the cause!

The power steering has been bled and it is not making any noises. There is NO power steering what so ever. This hydraulic power steering - cooling system has me and my expert friends stumped! If anyone has ANY suggestions PLEASE HELP!!

What are the components I should check beyond the belt and fluid levels?

Thanks!
Jesse

Check for a crimped hose for one thing, my 92 has almost 200000 miles and the fan has never had problems. They are supposed to be very reliable units. Check and see if maybe one of the hoses has been crushed or crimped in some way.

What's next?

I checked the fluid level at cold and hot temps.

Bled the system by the data link connectors and by turning the steering wheel lock to lock several times.

In the resevior I can see the fluid flowing but it is not foaming nor bubbling.

The car is no longer running hot but the temp gage is reading just below the half way on the gage.

The power steering was working fine up until the car ran hot and the cooling fan locked up. Now the cooling system seems to be working fine since I replaced the fan with a good used one.

The rack and pump were both replaced new in December ( about 400 miles ago. )

Is there anything other than the pump & the rack that could cause the complete loss of power steering assist?

Thank You All For The Help!!! I truly appreciate all suggestions!

Jesse

Not sure if it's the cause, but have you checked your power steering belt? Had a real problem with my power steering going, then coming back for a bit, then going again.
Pulled a power steering pump thinking that it was going to have them switched and ran into someone who told me that they don't really go very often. Usually it's the BELT that's the problem, and to change that first.

Glad I did. Mine was pretty bad with small cracks and not very pliable. When it gets like this it tends to slip, and you don't necessarily hear it, although I did just once for a spllit second. Changed it out for a new one, tightened up too spec, and haven't had problem since which was probably about 4months ago when it was done.

93 camry cooling fan is HYDRAULIC COOLING FAN. So if you have power steering fluid leak, it can't drive the fan in correct rpm then leading overheat.
