my front passenger window goes down pretty slow and goes up even slower. sometimes it even stops halfway. now, do i need to replace the window motor or regulator?
It's possible the regulator mechanism just requies some lube at the obvious points. If that is not the case, a new motor/regulator combo is about $40 on Ebay.
Also could be a frayed wire from the airplane cable it uses. Mine gave me issues and was one wire strand snapped and caused it to bind. Had to take it apart, clip the wire and has worked great ever since.
Best to just oper it up and see what it is or is not doing. Might be an easy fix, may not, but you'll know what you're dealing with at least. They're pretty easy to take apart and work on though.
Someone times its the rubber trim that guides the window up and down that needs replacing. As with age the rubber starts to go so look into that!!!
Oh one way to check, put a little bit of lube inside the rubber and see if the windows goes up faster, if it does then all you need is to replace that and not the motor.

I'm haveing the same problem after installing a drivers side regulator and motor I got off ebay for the 94.
The weird thing is, it works fine, well OK...until I put the door panel back on..then it barely shuts..it acts as if it going to stop.
I lubed everything I could see to lube, all the channels, I've loosen the bolts, moved the window up and down, tighened them up again, thinking something was binding...didn't help. The rubber on the outside looks good, no cracking, I cleaned it anways...the felt on the inside was cleaned, and brushed up to try to make it slicker. Still the same thing.
I thinking the ebay regulator motors don't have as much torque as the OEM motors......but an OEM Motor and regulator is close to 300 bucks...
To the OP...beware of the Ebay regulators...if ur window is closing now, don't worry about how fast it is, just be happy it still works. Its going to stop working someday, when u least expect it.
I found a Dorman Regulator at the link below...I may go for it! I let uall know if its any better
yea, i dont think i'd buy from ebay. i have a couple buddies that work at toyota and can get a 30% discount.
All I can tell you is that I got one on Ebay about 3 years ago for the drivers door and it has performed flawlessly. Side by side, the two motor/regulator combos looked identical.
FWIW
YMMV
On my '94 Camry, the original regulator cable clip broke and the motor chewed up the cables to the point that it wasn't worth repairing. I bought the replacement window motor/regulator assembly from this seller AM Autoparts from eBay 7 months ago, installed it and never had any problems with it.
My front passenger side window is starting to do the same thing...I'll have to take the panel off and see if it needs lubed. If not, well I guess I'll know what to do.
