if there is a higher quality one then OEM then id prolly go that rout. when i had my gen3s with the 2" drop the boots tore even with toyota OEM ones. may be an isolated incident but just a heads up.
yeah, the slamming has been giving my car hell ...
i think this was drop-induced, and ive also noticed an abundance of squeaking ... which i believe to be the old bushings and what not, but i really dont have time to overhaul all that stuff

It may be that the lock rings/ spring plate may have gotten loose....
Exactly what I was going to suggest. Normally, if it's a cv joint, you hear it when moving, not sitting still like that. I guarantee its the spring/coilover.

got under there yesterday .... the spring seats were infact loose, so i tightened them up as much as possible with those stupid half-wrench things from K-Sport
all i had last nite while driving around was the typical squeaking that i think is from the pillowball mounts maybe? but its not enough to bother me
