4th Generation removing ACIS

I think I'm going to remove the ACI system all together since It wont open at all anyways under boost. Plus I can get rid of the ugly string of vacuum hoses under the v-bank cover.
Do you think I need to remove it?......becuase I really want to.
-Thanks

Strap the thing open then? I'm not sure what removing it does as no one removed it and drove around before.

thats a good Idea.. I'll do that when I dyno next week to see if does anything. I think that tony the tiger guy doesn't have one on his car. He removed it when he made his plenum. which is my next project.
-thanks guys.

just keep in mind tony also has a stand alone engine management system. so the lack of the ACIS he can counter for with the sofware and tuning. still worth a shot.

But the acis opens at full throttle vac, right? so if all the lines out of the manifold are charged I don't see it opening. I had hooked up my vac/boost gauge to the brake booster( I had tapped to 1/8 npt and connected a 90 elbow nipple) and it read -29 when I hand throttle to full I could get boost( like +1 or 2 lbs. I don't want to hold it there, thats bad bad for my baby!).

so maybe I'll leave it alone since I know what the acis is and what it does....I just don't know how it does it. to provide more torque closed and optimizes max hp on a N/A at WOT? wouldn't it be better if.....well IDK guys,I'll try to strap it open on the dyno to see if does anything(if I can, it's really hard to actuate by hand; almost pressure cut me!)

ok thanks for the brainstorming with me!! I'll post what happens next week.

Strapped the thing open. went for a test drive. For some reason it pulled like an LS1. NO, just kidding it had an incredible loss of torque and the benifits of having it open for max hp is no longer a desire. I didn't think it would make such a big difference. Glad I took evofire's advice! I was going to rip it all out.

Just make a new plenum, remember to design it with a displacement of around 1.5 times your engine's displacement

1.5 x (your displacement)

1.5 x 3 liters = 4.5 liters

The ACIS is ALWAYS OPEN!

Do you mean to say you want it closed?

Yeah it's spring loaded open with no vacuum, he just needs to go with a new intake plenum though.
