Spark Plug Wire difference Gen3 and Gen4

Hi Guys

Sorry to make a new thread but I wasn't able to get my answer from searches.

I wanted to know what the difference is between the spark plug wires used in a Gen 3 camry vs a Gen 4 2.2l camry. They both use the 5s fe right?

I read in my research that the gen 4 doesn't havea distributor... i am guessing it has something to do with that, but thats just a guess.

Seems a bit odd that gen 4 leads are $42

and gen 3 leads are $95

Thanks

You just answered your own question.

I am not familiar with those brands. I would get NGK or Denso brand instead.

Gen 4 uses coilpacks with ECU controlled ignition timing. Shorter wires.

So a non technical answer would be:They are different wires, you can't interchange.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

As for the NGK or Denso wires, I'm not sure where you can get them in Australia. I know of original wires (rip off, worth more than the total value of my car) or Top gun which are $150 which is far more than I'm prepared to pay..... Might just wate till they die to replace if I can't get a cheap set. I dunno how much longer I will keep the car.

In US OEM Toyota wire set is 50.21 wholesale (on line order)and 73.31 retail from dealer. I see that you are in AU so they may be a little higher.

Only a little bit more expensive in Australia, they are $85 EACH and there is no discount for buying all 4.

Dealers rape you here.
