iv seen alot of threads about people changing cluster lights and thats all fine and dandy, and id like to change them also. but i dont know what size or how many bulbs i need to do so...

how many bulbs are there for the gauge needles?
the warning lights?
the rest of the cluster face?
are they all the same bulb?

1 bulb per needle. I think there's five total because there's another for the odometer. The warning lights...I don't really know. You'd have to rip it apart and find out.

The gauge bulbs are 194NA...on a gen4.

For the gen3 gauge cluster, there are 4 bulbs(194). All of the other smaller bulbs are size 74(except for maybe 3), but all of the smaller bulbs are mounted in special bases, and are usually only available from the dealer. The 194 bulbs are the only ones you really need to change for a different color. The warning lights are all clear and don't need to be changed unless one or more are burned out. The color you see from the warning lights comes from a color filter in the gauge face.
