Unhappy 94 camry over-rev? problem

I got a 1994 Camry 3.0 v6. If the engine isnt warmed up its all good but if its up to normal operating temperature is when the problem starts. Its hard to explain, if you accelerate fast in a normal car it would downshift and start goin up in rpms well mine downshifts then all of a sudden start kind of overrevving as if its in neutral but i know its not. If i put it in neutral or park itll do the same weird sound as it does when im TRYING to accelerate. please help its robbing power!

Thats weird. Hard to tell from words. probablyt a slipping auto tranny( most likely). You'll need a new. its cheaper than haveing someone fix it.

You mean the engine revs up but the car doesn't accelerate right? If thats the case, new transmission.

Edit: actually check your trans oil, if it is low on oil it will do that. BUT if it has been low on oil for a while it will be on it's last legs.

I would like to see a video clip of this. This sounds similar to my GF's problem with her Integra. My mechanic told me it was the tranny fluid...

A friend of mine had a '94 ES300 with the same problem - once the car was at operating temp, the transmission started acting up. Apparently it was slipping so she ended up getting rid of the car.

As it's already been pointed out, I would check the transmission fluid. Not only the level of it, but also the condition of it.

Good luck!

I noticed you have mods done to the car. Did this start after any of them? That performance chip sounds like one of those resistors you plug into your intake air temperature sensor, if it is start by removing that thing its a scam and will cause your ecu to throw trouble codes.

its done it ever since i got it stock a couple years ago. i pluged my diagnostic reader in and forgot which code it gave me so ill get back to you with that. it gives me different codes everytime. OH and another thing that might help, when i figured out it had that problem i thought it might be the computer so i bought a new one and put it in but it still didnt help.
