3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I would suggest printing the page(s) for your car's bulbs and keeping it in your glove box for future reference.

yea i know about the sylvania site but they dont have the ashtray light(#74), glove box light(#74), door lights(#194) and trunk light(small & slim) listed.
one thing though, the light only goes on when your headlights are on, it took me forever to realize that.

You are not the only one to realize that too late. Years ago I spent about 30 minutes tracing that exact problem down on my brother-in-law's brand new 1991 Camry. I gave up. It wasn't until about 2 hours later, when we were driving in the car when it dawned on me. I asked my brother-in-law to turn the lights on and low and behold the glove box light came on too. That's now a constant laugh every time we get together and recall that Saturday afternoon.

Appreciate you posting this. I was doing a search on dead glove box lights when I came across this. I had already pulled the light ans switch, tested the light and it worked. Tested the switch and it worked. Disassembled the switch anyway in case it might have been an intermittent fault then reassembled it. Could not get 12V to the bulb.
Started chasing the wiring and could not find anything and decided to do a search on here and found this thread. Thanks again.
While it might sound too simple to be asked, but how do you reinstall this light? I tried today, and stopped before I broke the new bulb by forcing it. It seems that the bulb has to be installed with the correct orientation, and my fingers are too big to get into this area. Even with a plyer it didn't happen. I am wondering, does the cup like recpticle come out for easier installation?

Yes, the housing does come out. What I do not recall is whether or not you have to remove the glove box in order to do so. I know that I pulled the glove box on mine. I just do not recall f it was necesary to do so.
