kick down

Hi you all,

I have a question about the kickdown/gearbox.

When i floor the gaspedal my car runs like hell.
But when i drive 30KM/h and floor it, the gear box is not shifting down.
And when i start with half gas and then floor it same problem.

What can i do?

Thanks again!

I think it is still in 1st gear, so it can't kick down, since there is no lower speed then that...

lets see thats what about 15 mph? (sorry the metric never caught on, specially deep south ) to see if your still in first lock it in first... if it runs like crap still its not the kick down... mine runs like crud when its cold, you can try cleaning the intake, the air filter, change plugs, and maybe wires and see if it helps...it did me, if i nail it from the line, it seems to take forever to hit the revs where there is power... if im doing 15 and hammer down it actually will drop a gear or 2 (they will go into thirs or even od at low speeds) and its gone...well four a 5sfe...lol

I am not sure about the speed, i will give it a try tomorrow.

L=is the first gear?

I ask this because i think about it ......when i have the problem i can put it manual in L a see if it shifts back (then i know if it is still in first gear)

thanks!

L is only using first gear...

Please check in your car manual for "How to drive" (I read mine as well since I never had and automatic before)...

L uses only 1st gear and max speed is (as I recall from my manual) around 60-80KM/h
2 uses 1st and 2nd gear and max speed is ~100KM/h (I tking 108KM/h as per manual)
Drive uses all the gears...

L means LOAD (when you have huge load, or you are pulling a caravan or trailor)...
2 is for city driving (?! - that's all from the manual)
D is highway and also can be used in city

This is all from manual, doe I use D for city and everything else

L doesn't have a kick down....
