3rd Generation Puddle light wireing question.

Ok so i just ordered these cause i thought they look pretty interesting and fun to play around with

http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/Univ...duct_info.html

if u dont know what puddle lights are do a search off google. no they are not neons u drive around with (altho mine will be hooked to a switch) they basicly only come on when u unlock the car to find puddles so u dont step in them.

Well i ordered a set of green for my camry but my only question is i think its all straight wires... so if im hooking them directly to the battery, should i buy a small inline fuse set up for them? say a 15?

Usually, when I install extra equipment like fog lights, horn, or stereo, I run the positive lead through the firewall. In most cases, I try to go through where there's an unused rubber grommet or where wires already are coming through the firewall. I connect the wires either right to the battery or to the main fuse box. I do use a fuse, the lights you're buying probably come with one. 15amp should be fine. For the ground wire, I just find a close spot around the device(your lights) like the frame, somewhere under the dash, as long as it is directly and cleanly connected to the car body/frame, you're good to go.

puddle lights... functionally, I think neons would work better. Those puddle lights look like they're from ikea and belong under a kitchen cabinet to illuminate a countertop.

Anyway, I don't see mention of a relay, that's how I would do it. The relay would use the dome light as trigger, turning on the lights that are powered by the battery.

the green wire coming from the relay would attach to door/dome positive trigger. If you want to kno where the trigger wire is, look up alarm wiring diagram, or find someone who works for DEI.

ThurzNite - thats how all puddle lights are, and you will usually see them on VIP/Bippu & VIP-inspired cars ... they do work, oddly enough, but are more of a styling thing
