Hi all - quick question:

I live in the great police state of MD and the tint limit here is 35%. I want to get as close to that as possible, so I was wondering what the stock tint % is. Anyone know? Thanks ...

i believe its about 95%. there are 2 way to be sure. some tint places especially high end ones have a light meter as do cops at the MVA. if ya go to the mva you can ask to have your tint tested and even if it is stock they will usually do it if they know your trying to make sure the aftermarket tint will be over or at legal.

thanks ! will do ... my cousin got stopped on 29 a few years ago because of his tint ... he had 40% but apparently his stock was a little over 5% so they slapped him with a fine ... so im not trying to take any chances ...

If it's stock tint..there is nothing they can do about it. If it's aftermarket, then they can fine you.

^^ ya but if you put on aftermarket tint which, when coupled with stock tint, exceeds the legal limit, you'll have problems. thats what i was getting at.

yes...i can say for sure that in the state of MD that is very true. i had 35% put on my old 96 and was given a ticket for it cuz of the tint of the glass from the factory. but i also drove my pull me over red coupe around with 20% on it and never got pulled over

^^^^^Yeah...but I did once I got the red coupe down here in Virginia...$93 out of my pocket!
