3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
it's common sense; why would you expect better mileage from something that blocks your intake?
it's as brilliant of an idea as dumping more fuel into your cylinders to boost power

it's not really common sense, because the tornado concept adding velocity to airflow makes just as much sense, but as to whether it is actually affective is the debate. or rather, now a consensus that it does not work.

Gothmog3vz is right, its simple blocking airflow.. which is going to hurt MPG and power. The only thing that'll add airflow is turbo and that has to be done the right way. There's a video on youtube somewhere where a guy only got 5hp dynoed because he used a leafblower into his intake haha in other words, it takes a lot of extra airflow to give the engine any extra power or fuel savings
I drive with my big foot down a lot. I accelerate way too heavily and drive like my camry is...well, not a camry. Even I get 25 mpg with mostly in town driving. My dad hooked up a leaf blower into the intake on his ranger once. It actually bogged the truck down due to the amp draw on the alternator haha
^ Haha, the video I was talking about wasn't a leafblower hooked up to the car.. it was actually a guy holding the leafblower into the intake hose so the power was drained from an outlet, not the car.
