Toysrme Transmission controller

Hi Toysrme and others,

For a couple of years i thought about to make a Transmission controller. But i thought is was not possible. (i don't no enough about car mechanics).

And on a sunday morining i thought ...i have some time, why not reading the DIY /mods list again....maybe some new listed things
And then i found the article from Toysrme... i didn't believe there was some just as crazy as me

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh....php?p=1503081

I have tried to read his drawing but is no realy clear for me...sorry.

Can someone help me:

-I have a 1mzfe camry (1998) 4gears so i think the gear box is the same
-I must look to normal ECU or is there a special gearbox ECU??
-Shift solenoid 1= E10 (pin1)???
-Shift solenoid 2= E9 (pin2)???
-When i "cut" the wire on E10 (pin1) it means OFF?
-When i "cut" the wire on E10 (pin1) and put a 15ohm (25watt) resistor between this pin and groud it is ON?

- why i must controle the torque converter...can i leave like it is now? (what are the benefits??)

-have you find a way to put it in "N", or is that not possible?

Thanks Alot ....and sorry for my English.:bowdo wn:

I've read through that entire thread before....I so want to do it with my 3VZ-FE but i'm afraid of the ECU wiring.

I do have some concerns though, lets say i'm in PARK and I use the controller to put my car into 2nd gear.

Will the controller put the the car into 2nd gear and engage the transmission? So i'll be moving even though i'm in PARK? lol that's kinda dangerous.

Has anyone done this???? Pleeeease share.

Also we can modify toyrsme's design and incorporate paddles easily. All we need are two switches and a circuit that will count the number of paddle inputs. Then wire that output to the ECT.

For the counter circuit we can use some 74 series flip flops.

I can build the paddle circuit if someone can wire the ECU.

OMFG sequential shifting in a 92 CAMRY?

SEX!

you steel my paddles idea
Yes it is simple todo.

And when the park light is on you can make it so, that it is impossible to activate the paddles

LOL

Also shut down the controller in park. Come to think of it, engage it only in DRIVE.

The system should inoperable unless you are in DRIVE. To do this we can attach a BOSH type relay to the drive light in the shifter column therefore, using the D indicator as a main power switch for the transmission controller.

Now i just need someone to wire the ECU and show me how to do it.

wow, seriously, any info on this would be insanely appreciated. I will pay good money for a paddle shifting circuit. I actually know how to do the ecu wiring... I spent a lot of time reading about it and acquired the diagrams from toyota. I've been DIEING to make a paddle shifting unit for the 1mzfe...

Paddles are the easy part of this.

Once we have the ecu wiring down we can get the paddles to work with them.
